Most College Station dentists accept multiple types of insurance that can defer the costs of caring for your teeth and gums. There are many dental insurance options out there, and many dentists also offer in-house financing, but the three most common types of dental coverage accepted by the majority of dentists are:
- PPO (Preferred Provider Organization) : plans give you access to a network of dentists who have contracted with your insurer to provide policy holders with substantial discounts. Your insurance company will also cover a higher percentage of the costs when you use a preferred provider. Outside the network, some savings may still be available, but savings are much bigger inside the network.
- DHMO (Dental Health Maintenance Organization) : policies are similar to PPO in that you get bigger discounts within a predetermined network, but it differs in that the insurer pays each network dentist monthly installments for joining the network. This means that network dentists have an obligation to serve policy holders and that you often pay nothing at all for smaller-cost services, while a co-payment will be needed for higher-cost procedures.
- Dental discount plans :give you a discount with network dentists as long as you pay that discounted price upfront in cash. Dentists sign on to eliminate the paperwork and wait-time otherwise needed to be reimbursed by insurance companies.
Each College Station dentist may have slightly different insurance policies they accept and may be part of a different set of dental insurance networks. Be sure to do some research to find where to get the maximum reimbursements.
