Preventive Services

We want you to keep your smile healthy, strong, and beautiful with regular preventive dental visits, restorative maintenance, and cosmetic dentistry. At Cashion Dental, we’re pleased to provide the personalized attention and care you deserve.

For a lifetime of healthy smiles, your mouth needs a healthy foundation. Regular checkups and proper homecare will help you maintain good oral health. Regular brushing and flossing are excellent for maintenance between office visits, but a healthy mouth and beautiful smile require routine general and preventative care to stay that way. Our practice offers general care that includes regular oral examinations and cleanings. During your hygiene appointment, our hygienist will thoroughly examine your teeth and gums. An oral cancer screening and periodontal exam allow us to assess your oral health comprehensively. If we discover problems, like gum disease or tooth decay, Dr. Cashion will suggest treatment to repair the damage and re-establish oral wellness.

Fluoride | (top)

fluorideFluoride is a substance that helps teeth become stronger and resistant to decay. Regularly drinking water treated with fluoride and brushing and flossing regularly ensures significantly lower cavities. The application of fluoride will assist in the prevention of tooth decay in both children and adults.

Sealants | (top)

Many people have deep pits and grooves in their teeth where bacteria and food particles can hide and cause decay. Children with poor brushing habits may also develop decay on hard-to-reach molars. Tooth sealants protect these susceptible areas by sealing the grooves and pits, preventing bacteria and food particles from residing in these areas. Sealant material is typically applied to the back teeth, molars and premolars, and areas prone to cavities. It lasts for several years, but needs to be checked during regular appointments. Scaling & Root Planing | (top)

rootPlanning If we feel that you are suffering from gingivitis or more severe gum disease, we may recommend a scaling or root planing. These measures can be instrumental in preventing bone loss and helping you to keep your natural teeth. Scaling and root planing is a non-surgical procedure in which we remove plaque and tartar from below the gum line. Root surfaces are cleaned and smoothed with specially designed instruments. It is important to remove the plaque and tartar from the pockets, because aside from the bacterial toxins that irritate the gums, plaque and the rough surfaces of tartar make it easier for bacteria to gain a foothold.

Nightguards | (top)

Custom made mouthpieces provide comfortable, effective protection from tremendous damage caused by clenching and grinding of teeth. Most people who clench and grind are unaware that they are doing this, however they are aware of the results – teeth wear, sore muscles, headaches, cold sensitive teeth, and fractures or breaking of teeth. If you have any of these symptoms, Cashion Dental can help you determine if a nightguard may provide you relief.
