What are Same-Day Crowns?
Dental crowns made during a single office visit are a personalized treatment process, unlike traditional lab-created crowns. Patients no longer need to wait days to weeks for their new crown.
Now, the process is without the sticky, runny dental impression goo, which once was the norm. Instead of you biting down to make a physical impression, we can do so digitally. Not only is this more comfortable for you, but the process is faster as well – not to mention more accurate.
The Making of CEREC® Crowns
Dr. Cashion will use CEREC® to create the crown. This is a milling and imaging unit that continues to improve patient experiences worldwide. Using a small wand, he’ll scan your mouth entirely, paying great attention to where your crown will shortly be.
After the system has completed the crown design, it will be sent to a 3D printer, where a realistic model will be printed. These scanned images and 3D models are the blueprints for your actual, permanent crowns. We'll use the milling machine to craft your crown that's built right into the CEREC® (Chairside Economic Restorations of Esthetic Ceramics) System.
Once the actual crown is ready, Dr. Cashion shapes and fits it. The goal is to add any final changes to the crown so it will securely sit comfortably in your mouth and look the part of a tooth. After molding it to fit comfortably, we'll cement it in place.
How Long does CEREC® Take?
This specific type of dental crown allows patients to fix current dental problems without making multiple appointments. Patients can expect it to take 1.5-2 hours. However, the actual time it takes for your appointment may vary depending upon how many crowns you need and if any problems arise during the procedure.
